Join us for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Tech Essential Day! This free, one-day event will be delivered by AWS Education’s technical instructors.

This event is ideal for business and technical leaders, as well as IT Pros and developers who are eager to learn more about cloud computing and be trained on the AWS Cloud.

Tech Essential Day is based on the Instructors sessions and self-paced labs. The program will take you through a step-by-step deep-dive into AWS core services such as Compute, Storage, Database and Network.
Self-paced labs help you learn how to work with AWS services so you can gain confidence with the AWS platform. Each lab walks you through step-by-step instructions to complete a pre-designed scenario using the AWS Console in a live practice environment. At the end of the session, you will be able to build and deploy scalable and secure applications on the AWS Cloud.

10:20am – 11:45am Module 2: Foundational Services – EC2,VPC,S3 and EBS

At the completion of this session you will have the core competency and understanding of the following:

  • Identify key AWS compute and networking options
  • Create an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud instance
  • Knowledge of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) concepts including: Subnets, Security, Networking, VPN, and Amazon S3 (Requests, Buckets, Objects, Access, Protecting Data, Optimization, and Lifecycle Management with Glacier
  • Introduction to Amazon EBS (Volumes, Snapshots, Optimization, Encryption, and Performance)
11:45am – 12:30pm Lab -1:  Build your VPC and Launch a Web Server

Abstract: This lab walkthrough helps you to create your own VPC and add additional components to it to produce a custom network. You will create security groups for your EC2 instance. You will configure and customize EC2 instance to run a web server and launch it into the VPC.

13:20pm – 14:00pm Module 3: Security, Identity and Access Management

At the completion of this session you will have the core competency and understanding of the following:

  • Physical vs Logical Security
  • Understanding Compliance
  • Identity and Access Management – inclusive of User, Groups and Roles along with permissions and policies
14:00pm – 14:50pm Module 4: Database – Amazon Dynamo DB and RDS

At the completion of this session you will have the core competency and understanding of the following

  • Difference between Relational and NoSql database
  • Various database engines supported on RDS
  • Dynamo DB data model, supported operations, provisioned throughput
14:50pm – 15:30pm Lab -2: Build your database server and interact with your database using an application

Abstract: This lab builds on the previous lab. This lab is designed to reinforce the concept of leveraging an AWS managed database instance for solving relational database needs.

15:50pm – 16:30pm Module 5: AWS Elasticity and Management Tools

Abstract: This lab builds on the previous lab and walks you through using the Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) and Auto Scaling services to load balance and auto-scale your infrastructure.
